Lise Lebleux

Lise Lebleux, was born in 1998 in Vesoul, Haute-Saône. She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Lyon. She works in several European countries, mainly Germany, Austria and France. Her artistic practice consists of creating sound compositions based on her own field recordings. Her artistic practice focuses in particular on the combinations between individuals and their acoustic environments. The idea is to follow these people as they listen to their working environment and to cross-reference these moments of sound with the wider acoustics of the area. In this way, each sound piece is the result of sound recordings of a specific and unique space, with its own intrinsic conditions.

Group exhibition on view until the end of September in Bad Ischl, in Austria, as part of the European Capitals of Culture 2024 :

Fiselaée is a sound installation created especially for the opening weekend of the Manoir d'Alvémont in Auberville-la-Renault, Normandy, organised by Jocelyn Wolff gallery. The term fiselaée is a Norman word meaning a draught.

For this event, the sound composition is based on field recordings made exclusively in Seine-Maritime. The installation was situated in the cellar of the Manoir, a damp place that was completely flooded for a long time, characterised by water-soaked rock and a low temperature. This location echoes the climatic particularities of the seaside as well as the constantly windy atmosphere of the region. It should be noted that the only place that was not the subject of field recordings was the Manoir itself: the idea was to make the soundscapes surrounding the Manoir heard along with the sounds already present on the site.

Thanks to the presence of its window wells and exposed loopholes, the cellar is a place open to the outside world where the wind rushes in, reminiscent of the soundscapes of the Normandy coast. The sounds inherent in the life of the Manoir become part of the sound composition, creating a constantly evolving in-situ mix.

Site-specific sound installation designed specifically for the inauguration evening of the Manoir d'Alvémont in Auberville-la-Renault, in Normandy, organised by the Jocelyn Wolff gallery, in September 2023
All the sound recording sessions were carried out in Seine-Maritime.
